1st part of the First Rio City Aesthetic Marathon (project): 1.049 kilometers in 7:20 minutes – completed on Monday, April 11th 2016, in the district Flamengo (overall map). The painter, plastic and video artist Jonas Aisengart (*1987) lives in Rio de Janeiro (more about him).
Why did you choose this part to represent Rio de Janeiro at the First Rio City Aesthetic Marathon?
The Aterro do Flamengo is for me one of the most beautiful places in town because of the park, the view, and because here has happened something I would like to remember: a group of teenagers who called themselves the "executors" took hold of a town tramp, beat him up and tied him to a post. So it is a lovely place with its dark sides.
Your favourite art place?
The MAM (Museu de Arte Moderna) is in my opinion the best museum in town. It disposes of wide exposition areas, shows excellent exhibitions and is located nicely surrounded by gardens and greeneries, perfect for a picnic in the open air. Avenida Infante Dom Henrique 85, Parque do Flamengo.
Your favourite shop in Rio?
I like the bookstore Livraria da Travessa in Botafogo. Rua Voluntários da Pátria, 97 – Botafogo.
Your favourite restaurant in Rio – and what should you order there?
The Luigi, an Italian restaurant, simple, very nice, with wonderful dishes. I recommend the Tagliatelle Boscaiola, very tasty! Rua Senador Corrêa, 10 – Laranjeiras.
