20th part of the First Rio City Aesthetic Marathon (concept): 1.343 kilometers in 26:27 minutes – completed on Thursday, April 14th 2016, in the quarter Urca (overall map). The artist Leo Ayres (*1975) lives in Rio de Janeiro (more about him).
Why did you choose this part to represent Rio de Janeiro at the First Rio City Aesthetic Marathon?
I think the whole life is a marathon. You have to know and measure your space, your time, your speed and know where you want to get. Here on this path to the Sugar Loaf, to the Morro da Urca, you are inside the city, you have contact with nature and get another view of the town. You see the city from above, you get away from your problems and from life down there, you get another view of everything and also of what you are experiencing throughout.
Your favourite art place?
I like art on the street best, it doesn't matter where, whatever interests me, without the need of using a white cube as a big frame.
Your favourite shop in Rio?
I cannot say this because I almost never go shopping. Actually, I use only the supermarket close to home.
Your favourite restaurant in Rio – and what should you order there?
I recommend drinking a beer, sitting on a wall in Urca at sundown. Have a Pastel of your choice or a Bolinho de Bacalhau.
