Sou DaniMei

24^th part of the First Rio City Aesthetic Marathon (concept): 0.182 kilometers in 3:54 minutes – completed on Friday, April 15^th 2016, in Realengo (overall map). The performance artist and designer Sou DaniMei (*1976) lives in Rio de Janeiro (more about her).

Why did you choose this part to represent Rio de Janeiro at the First Rio City Aesthetic Marathon?

I selected this segment because we startet at the Escola Lazar Segal that carries the name of the painter. We walked up to this place of the Realengo which is being restored. Here this Portuguese bar is still original, a sort of warehouse. And also because of the poetic reality of this place, because it is a project that welcomes culture, spreading, and exchange of information. That's why I am here.

Esperança-Guest House. Beco do Boticário, 4. Casa de Artes am Carioca-Fluss, umgeben vom Atlantischen Regenwald, ein geschütztes neokoloniales Gebäude. Es unterstützt antike Geschichten und Poetik, verbreitet Wissen, fördert wichtigen Austausch, verschiedene künstlerische Praktiken und beherbergt Forschergruppen, wann immer es möglich und notwendig ist.

Dein Lieblingsgeschäft in Rio?
Flohmärkte in den besten Stadtvierteln der Stadt: Glória, Lapa, Bairro de Fátima, Praça XV etc. Sie bieten die verschiedensten Sachen, dort akzeptiet man Gegenvorschläge und lässt mit sich handeln, sie beleben den unabhängigen autonomen Markt, stehen im Dialog zum Recycling und zeugen von den Indizien der Erinnerungen der lokalen Einwohner. Außerdem recycelt man so.

Dein Lieblingsrestaurant in Rio – und was sollte man dort bestellen? Fat Choi. Rua do Catete, 127. Köstliche Küche aus Macao aus den Händen der Maître Carol, voll von Eleganz beim Auftragen. Eine einzigartige Erfahrung der Lust und Bedienung. Ich empfehle die Möhrensuppe mit Ingwer, gemischte Vorspeise und Pudding mit Portweinsosse, bestenst zum Teilen geeignet.
