11th part of the First Rio City Aesthetic Marathon (concep): 0.149 kilometers in 3:42 minutes – completed on Wednesday, April 13th 2016, in the quarter Jardim Botânico (overall map). The harpsichordist and researcher Rosana Lanzelotte lives in Rio de Janeiro (more about her).
Why did you choose this part to represent Rio de Janeiro at the First Rio City Aesthetic Marathon?
The Botanical Garden belongs to the best known landmarks of Rio. It was founded in 1808 by king John VI when he settled with the portuguese court in Rio de Janeiro. At that time Rio de Janeiro was the only capital of America. And this place originated because of an idea of a courtier who had taken along many seedlings. Until recently we had there the imperial palm, the first palm-tree brought to Brazil by John VI. I have often worked here. We have here the theatre Tom Jobim where I did some shows. We also have a showroom where I was curator of an exhibition. This place is very dear to me because of my walking exercises and my upbringing.
Your favourite art place?
The city theatre Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro and the concert hall Sala Cecília Meireles because these are the most important stages for classical music in town.
Your favourite shop in Rio?
The bookstore Livraria da Travessa, the best in town and maybe in Brazil.
Your favourite restaurant in Rio – and what should you order there?
Lorenzo in the quarter Jardim Botânico. The steak tartare is sensational.
