28th part of the First Rio City Aesthetic Marathon (concept): 0.417 kilometers in 7:50 minutes – completed on Saturday, April 16th 2016, in the quarter Centro (overall map). The architect Fumi Hashimoto lives in Rio de Janeiro (more about her).
Why did you choose this part to represent Rio de Janeiro at the First Rio City Aesthetic Marathon?
This section shows the African cultural heritage. We started at the Cais do Valongo where many slaves arrived who, under tortures, were commercialized in this area. Here is the Jardim Suspenso do Valongo where the slaves were fed up to be sold afterwards. Along the section were several places where they were exposed under tortures. We try to get it inscribed into the world cultural heritage, because I think this place must be preserved to show people that one may not tolerate any more such states that belong to our history, to the history of mankind. Sometimes one bumps into war situations in which one person subjects the other, but this must be something that does not exist anymore in future.
Qual é o seu lugar favorito para usufruir arte no Rio de Janeiro?
Costumava ser a Casa Daros que infelizmente fechou. Mas temos o Art rio uma vez por ano no píer mauá que é uma feira internacional de arte contemporânea, onde podemos ter uma panorâmica da produção artística no mundo.

Qual é o seu restaurante favorito no Rio - e que se deve comer lá?
Wasabi – Os sushis e sashimis são bons com tamanho ideal, o gari de lá é muito bom. Além das saladas frescas tem um delicioso risoto de funghi e lulas empanadas com molho teriaki. No almoço é self serviço que agrada toda a família e com uma vista maravilhosa do canal da barra e a ilha da gigoia. Fica no terceiro andar do shopping barrapoint, que é vazio e tem ótimos filmes do grupo estação.
